“I really don’t agree with the principles of Beyond Blue” my therapist announced in the quiet corner office where I’ve been meeting her over the past year. She’s not being an asshole; she has reservations about the idea of blanket diagnoses of depression, and the claims that the community has a pervasive and long-term issue which is on the rise. In fact, there seems to be an emerging trend where psychologists prefer to address each individual’s issues, without a hasty diagnosis.
I had a rough 2013 and my psyc helped immeasurably, but I can see an end-point to these sessions, and she can too. Time to count those lucky stars, I guess.
