When you Talk About The Twelves

It’s not entirely likely that you’ve heard Brazilian band The Twelves when out dancing. You may not have heard about them at all.
But there’s good reason to.
Though they’re yet to fully reveal themselves in album form, The Twelves have pimped themselves out on their myspace page, including two mix “tapes,” with the likes of Radiohead, Of Montreal, Metronomy, Fleet Foxes and Lykke Li thrown together with perfect continual rhythm. The Twelves have also remixed M.I.A, Kylie Minogue and Groove Armada.

So check out what the hype is all about. Samples below, or you can download their mixed tapes on their myspace page.

My favourite of these is easily The Twelves’ remix of Cicada’s “Metropolis” (which I believe pays homage to the film of the same title). This remix is quite different to the original version (see Cicada’s myspace to hear it), and boasts a confident beat behind a highly electroni-sized voice (which oddly doesn’t smother the vocal arrangement), and driven successfully by synthpop sounds.
They also have their own songs to deliver.

There is something unique, memorable and just downright fun about remixes and songs like these.

Cicada – Metropolis (The Twelves Remix)

Zeigeist – Humanitarianism (The Twelves Remix)

Yelle – Ce Jeu (The Twelves Remix)
